About Me

Claire Stevens
Music for Claire began with childhood piano lessons, and led to university study, teaching secondary school music, directing a small local orchestra, playing in bands, accompanying for choirs and soloists, and arranging a variety of choral and instrumental music.
Her main interest is choral music, from school choirs to singing in a large city choir – she currently sings in a chamber choir, an a cappella jazz quartet, accompanies for a local women’s choir, and enjoys working with other groups in leading workshops.
Claire has been a member of Dunedin gospel group, Sunny Side Up since it began in 2000, and its leader since 2006. While the group’s main focus is gospel, their repertoire includes world music and other popular numbers. SSU is a strong group of 45 singers whose enthusiasm and enjoyment have remained constant. Claire also leads Oamaru community choir, the Limetones.
Claire is a member of the SLNA committee.
