About Me

Ross Browning
I feel fortunate to have sung in Tony and Marianne Backhouse's Napier Gospel Choir until mid-2015. For two years I was second conductor under Tony. Then, when Tony relinquished his role as conductor, I had the privilege of taking over that position.
The Napier Gospel Choir is a SATB, non-audition, a cappella choir where songs are taught by rote with sheet music for those who want to use it. The mainstay of our repertoire is African-American gospel, and we also sing some popular African songs.
I am excited about the African-American gospel repertoire for community choir, and teach them in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.
I also run a pub choir called "Rock Choir". I do this with a guitarist as support, and we sing popular songs from the folk, rock, pop and soul genres. As part of our evenings, we sing the melody in unison. The other part is spent learning and singing some songs in two part harmony.
