About Me

Shona McKee McNeil
I live and work in Kapiti running Kapiti Gospel Choir at night and by day, a counsellor and manager of a mental health wellbeing centre. Originally from Scotland, I sang with the Good Shepherd Classical Chorus, Wild Goose Group workshops, Late Late Service, ceilidh & Gaelic bands and a singer/actor using the fabulous Sticky Kids music. I relocated to New Zealand in 2011 with my big hairy husband and became a puppeteer. I joined Carol Shortis' Womansong which saved my sanity and gave me connection. Learning under Carol and then Tony Backhouse, i came out of the altos and learnt song leading and arranging in the gospel style. I'd finally found my niche, and with fellow gospelites, have enjoyed the wonders of Hobart Festival of Voices and workshops with Eric Dozier. I truly believe in the community of singing and the wonders it can do for us.
