About Me

Miriam Chalk
Growing up in a musical family in Christchurch, my three sisters and I began singing and performing from an early age. We were all encouraged to learn a musical instrument or two and experiment with different genres. Later on, we formed our own band and performed at weddings, public events, funerals, church services, etc.

When I moved to Auckland I teamed up with four other musicians, and for twelve years we entertained at senior citizen's rest homes and hospices, singing the songs of their era.

During my many years as an Early Childhood Teacher, part of my philosophy was to accompany my teaching with music in every area possible - a worthwhile and rewarding process. I also combined my love of teaching children and music, and formed a children's choir.

Now that I've retired, I'm enjoying writing poetry, children's stories and songs.
