I am a NZ Registered Music Therapist. I trained initially as a flautist at Victoria University, Wellington (BMusHons) and later retrained as a Music Therapist (PGDipMusTh) in Brisbane, Australia. I moved back to New Zealand in 2005, and have been working in the Wellington region since then. I work across a number of populations, with the majority of my work currently in the special education field. I also work with people with Huntington’s Disease, and adults with disabilities, as well as with the neurological choir. I spent many years working in the Aged Care sector, especially with people with dementia, and have a passion for this area of work. I am on the Council for Music Therapy New Zealand, and have been actively involved with this organization since 2005. I currently co-lead the SoundsWell Singers, a Wellington choir for people with various neurological conditions such as Aphasia post stroke, or Parkinson’s Disease, and have co-lead this with Penney Warren since it began in 2015.
