About Me

Shona McKee McNeil
My background is in creative arts with over 25 years experience in professional & community theatre, t.v. & radio as an actor, director, drama tutor, puppeteer and playwright. Originally from Scotland, I sang with the Good Shepherd Classical Chorus, workshops with the Wild Goose Group and been part of various musical ventures including the Late Late Service, several ceilidh bands and a singer/actor with The Sticky Kids Show using the fabulous Sticky Kids music. I relocated to New Zealand with my husband in 2011 and joined Carol Shortis' Womansong. Since then I've sung with the Lower Hutt Community Choir, Gale Force Gospel and now lead Kapiti Gospel Choir and the new protest/action choir Choir on Fire. Over the years I’ve used the arts in an educational and therapeutic manner with deaf children, senior citizens, prisoners, physically and mentally challenged adults and am now studying counselling to further my skills in this area.
