About Me
Myrna Michell
‘All things voice and piano’ is how Myrna introduces herself.
Myrna is a pianist, singer, song-writer and choir-leader. In the UK, she was a concert-curator and workshop-leader, arriving in New Zealand in January 2014.
Myrna teaches voice and piano, and accompanies/coahces classical singers.
In June 2014 she launched a choir in Levin: 'Sing Out, Levin!' No-audition, and meeting weekly on Friday mornings at 10.30 for 10.45 start. Coffee and food to follow! The venue is the Savage Club on Parker Ave in Levin (by the Motor Camp). From Liverpool Street, turn left at the hospital.
For two years (until December 2016), Myrna led 'Let's Sing, Otaki', also a no-audition group. They are now under the direction of Ann-Marie Stapp. The group meets weekly on Tuesdays at 2pm followed by coffee, at the Hadfield Hall right by the Anglican-Methodist Parish Church.
Myrna offers imaginative group sessions for children - or for family groups, using lots of instruments and of course, their voices. She teaches children and adults with special educational needs, and leads sessions for the frail elderly.
Her qualifications are (UK) BA Hons., MA (Music). Music-teaching qualifications. And then there’s 50 + years of loving the human voice!

Meets on Friday mornings at 10.30 for 10.45 start, in the Savage Club, Parker Avenue, Levin (by the Motor Camp). For anyone at all! There are now over 30 regular attenders, so we may need to create a 'waiting list'. We have extended our experience by inviting two other leaders on board at times. In my absence in UK, both Jude Woodgyer (SLNA member) and Ann-Marie Stapp of Otaki were busy teaching the choir. They wanted to 'do The Rhythm of Life' so they got it!
